when you stare at the abyss, the abyss stares back at you

This cracked me up…
In keeping with the comedy theme of the last post, here’s another smart-ass funny read.
BTW, does everyone realise that Christmas is coming? *lol*
The agency that did this…
…should be hanged and then shot through the head just to make sure that they are dead. Better yet, hang them by their fingernails for optimal pain.
Or, it could just be a real joke done at the expense of MDA. It does look and sound like a joke.
Go check this out – http://www.mda.gov.sg/wms.www/video.htm.
Naturally they have hid it under like 15 clicks to even get to the page. At least I assume so.
God. This is why I pay my damn taxes on time. Somebody please go lynch the creative already.
*edit
I realised that the website streaming the video couldn’t be accessed, not even from the main MDA page. Someone has something to be embarrassed about, don’t they?
Anyway I have found the same video off YouTube and embedded it here. If not, you can also load it up at http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gi0HJNefjho.
Korea trip re-capped…
I am (unfortunately) back from Korea. It was too short a trip in my opinion; not enough time to savour being away on a holiday. There was definitely enough time to see the place and know that I probably covered most of the “should see” places BUT not enough time to let the “holiday” mood soak into my bones and make me feel happy being away from “normal” Singapore life.
In summary, what I loved about Korea:
1. The lovely cold weather; think it never went over 18 degrees or under 5 degrees. Stepped out of Changi Airport and I felt like ripping off parts of my skin. The air here never felt so wet for so long. *sigh* took me until today to get used to walking the short distance from home to MRT station. Korea, we walked for like an hour in the lovely weather…at night.
2. Krispy Kremes and Dunkin Donuts. Did I ever tell you what a big donut fan I am? I love donuts. Think the current Singapore franchises aren’t that good though.
3. Yummy food. Check out the photos below on some of the places we ate. But special mention goes to the Ginseng Chicken (Day one) and the raw beef sukiyaki (Day three).
Korea highlights:
1. Cold weather. Did I mention this before? I adore the not too low temperature, no biting winds cold weather in Korea. *long-drawn-out sigh*
2. The opportunity to visit the DMZ. Didn’t fancy the tour guide’s bloody long spiel on how Korea boys do national service and that makes them ‘men’. All that was going through my head then was “lim Beh in Singapore also do NS lor…also not so xiao zhang”. Didn’t help that I had to rush to wake up at like 7am in the morning to go through a 1 hour bus ride to reach the DMZ.
But going through the tour did give me a deeper understanding of the environment in which the two Koreas were seperated and why unification is taking such a long time. It’s not Singapore and Malaysia definitely. For more info, you can read up from Wikipedia here.
3. Catching a country in mid-Autumn before start of winter. The colours are brighter, especially the orange, and the cuisines becoming more geared to warm foods and more soups. Did I already mention the weather?
4. Soju.
5. Lotte department store. I swear their version of Cold Storage has everything. And a lot of one particular item – Sam was right in naming it “kimchi paradise”.
Things I did not like:
1. Not being allowed to take photos in the DMZ area.
2. Compass Rose. 6 drinks = SGD$150??
3. Jackets sold along the street-side are like SGD$700!! WTF!
4. Their subway isn’t tourist friendly. The English doesn’t mean anything when it is simply translating the Korean name into English and the maps don’t list it.
5. Freakin’ labour protest in the same area that I was doing last minute shopping at. If the cab had driven slower, I would have missed my flight home. Details can be read here.
Photos:
Some of the day one photos can be found here with the bulk of pictures on my Flickr account that can be accessed here or you can cut and copy the following link into your browser – http://www.flickr.com/photos/inspirethereal/
The rest of the photos are on my Flickr here. My wordpress is running outta space! *grumble* BTW, I upgraded to Flickr Pro so that I will have unlimited space and “sets” creation. *grin*
Korea here I come!
Am headed off to Korea in a couple of hours!! Felt good to have a full day of leave to myself earlier today, although there were still at least 3 phone calls. *grimace* gawd, I will never be free of them.
Some quick photos to post up…from the past week.
1. Had steamboat at Lorri and William’s place last Saturday! Thanks for the yummy food both and to MT for the umm “fishball with filling” item that I cannot identify.
2. At Balaclava with Tze Wei and XP after steamboat earlier in the night. Bala is deeaad on a Saturday. The band sounds like someone is grabbing them by the balls and squeezing…hard. They must have done like 20 “high note” songs the whole evening. Like the Bee Gees but worse.
3. Liverpool drew with Blackburn. Bloody hell!
4. Fishing the next morning again. Set off from Punggol like too early in the morning. Managed to catch lots of fish but importantly nice photos! =) All pictures taken with a Nokia N95.
5. Liverpool won 8-0. Perfect. Keep it up! =)
Random thoughts and some photos
Just some thoughts as they occurred to me over the past week. Pictures wherever possible.

“Bro, you wish…”
Charles peddling the iPhone. Next thing he will be wrapping hands around new laptop.

Fantastic lunch that Sam and Philippe rustled up. Each course with one bottle of wine…or more. Lunch finished at 6pm that Sunday. Thanks for inviting!! =)

Is it just me or with a red alert, Uncle Sam’s becomes an important installation? Maybe their claypot recipe very the power. Can ensure superior nutrition for our army.

Halloween/Secret Superpower party@Novous. Don’t think the service matched the dollar price on the menu. Had a great time attempting to dress up. I was a “South American drug pusher holidaying in Singapore who enjoys playing cards”. I was most likely just confused.
Was a fun night as well! Thanks again Sam for inviting!

Went fishing with Uncle Joseph and the sisters. We got rained out! We got poured on, drenched, shivering cold, ridiculously wet. And we are going back out again this coming Sunday. Tsk.
The raindrops spattering on the sea was very pretty in fact. Didn’t take any photos of them though. Kept my camera safe and dry.

To the guy who uses the same gym as I do:
“I wish I had stopped you on your way out the door.
I feel very strongly about you coming into the gym and not wiping your perspiration off the equipment that you use. I don’t see why I should have to experience a higher risk of catching whatever disease or bug you are carrying because you can’t be bothered to be hygienic or polite. Also, there are other people in the gym. Please bloody ask before you decide to assert your power of choice to change radio stations. While I appreciate that you didn’t change it to a lousy chinese channel; please understand that the other people in the gym besides you could have been listening to the station before you rudely changed it.
I will tell you this to your face if I see you do the same the next time.”

Happy Halloween!! Trick or treat! *grin*
