These videos are downright funny!

Memorable articles in the local papers

Quotes/lines taken from the Straits Times. Click here to access their website.

“‘Bo-geh, you cannot enjoy. But bo-geh, bo-lui is worse.” Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister, Singapore from article titled ” Bo-geh at 85? It’s worse to be bo-lui as well: PM

“Government data also shows that one in two who reach 62 will live beyond 85.” From article titled ” Bo-geh at 85? It’s worse to be bo-lui as well: PM

This is a rather sobering thought. 50 % of every Singaporean who reaches 62 can expect to live to at least 85. Doesn’t it make you wonder how the world will be in the next 50 years?

The next one is rather motivational. At least it appears on the surface that the Taleban aren’t as heartless or cruel as they could be. The survival of the masses or at the very least, the optimal survival of those that are able to, are given a fighting chance. Kudos to the UN for managing to broker this deal and for those gutsy health workers that are risking their lives to save others.

Perhaps their daimon is guiding them as well through that old land?

UN Workers ’safe’ from Taleban (article taken from Straits Times; originally from Associated Press)

KABUL: Taleban leaders appear to be honouring a pledge under which they have guaranteed safety to 10,000 United Nations health workers carrying on a campaign to immunise 1.3 million children against polio in Afghanistan.

The massive week-long immunisation campaign, which started on Wednesday, is being carried out nationwide, including in the violent southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand.

Kandahar’s governor and local elders had worked to ensure that the health workers would be allowed to travel safely.

Health workers have been abducted in the past, but Taleban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi said the militants would allow the workers access to southern Afghanistan for the current vaccination campaign.

In Bangkok for a superlong weekend…

filled with days of good food, pleasant company and chill-ed out hours. Will attempt to take lots of photos.

Should I pay for a premium account with Flickr? Have reached my 200 photo capacity already… and Flickr won’t display photos beyond that. Although they are willing to still be an online storage medium.

Check out Jeremy Wagstaff’s blog on his thoughts about using Flickr as a backup system here.

Where is Yusof?

Now this is a really cool site – it’s titled “Where is Yusof?” and while that sounds really like a localised version of “Where’s Wally?” but in reality it is a…Singapore Currency Tracking Project. Pretty cool – you register and then you essentially enter details where you might be able to track your dollar bills.

It has a pretty cool introduction as well. So go try it out!

- Have you ever wonder who had actually hold on to that particular dollar bill in your pocket before, or just how many hands did it exchange before returning back to you? Well this is the place to find out all…-

Travel plans – sponsors welcome

I have/will be doing more traveling since August then I have in the past year! First it was the Maldives in August, photos in my flickr link or click here. Next up in September will be Bangkok followed by Korea and Sydney in November.

SO. to fund my many travel plans in the next 4 months, I am seeking for sponsors. I am willing to be a courier man (travel expenses in-country borne by sender), postcard collector (cannot travel beyond 5km from hotel) and even photographer (this one is FOC – you pick from my stash).

Interested parties, please respond in my comments or look me up on facebook and reply on my wall.

Linkin Park to play here

By Douglas Tseng
CALIFORNIAN rockers Linkin Park are heading to Singapore for a concert on Nov 13. Brought in by Lushington Entertainments, the Grammy-winning group will be performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as part of its Asia Tour.

On stage will be Chester Bennington (vocals), Rob Bourdon (drums), Brad Nelson (guitar), John Hahn (DJ), Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell (bass) and Mike Shinoda (vocals).

This will be their second concert here. They first played at the Padang in 2004, to an audience of about 15,000 people.

After their gig here, they will perform in Hong Kong on Nov 20 and South Korea on Nov 30.

Since their debut in 2000, Linkin Park have sold more than 40 million records worldwide.

They released their third album, Minutes To Midnight, in May, and it has since sold over 2.3 million copies internationally.

In Singapore, more than 28,000 copies have been sold so far, says distributor Warner Music.

Tickets will go on sale on Thursday at Sistic.

Linkin Park is not the only band making noise in the coming months. On Oct 26, legendary American thrash metal merchants Megadeth will be entertaining headbangers at Fort Canning Park.

And the next day, Heaven And Hell, a supergroup comprising the original members of metal pioneers Black Sabbath (sans Ozzy Osbourne) and frontman Ronnie James Dio, will be taking centre stage at the same venue.
